This is a real fusion food. My hubby introduced me to this lebanese dip called "moutabel" and I fell in love with it. Instead of putting the kebab in the filling, I've put in place a warm tuna mushroom filling with oriental elements (oyster sauce, soy sauce). The result - yummy! Here are the ingredients:
Lebanese Bread - 2 pieces
Moutabel or hummus - 2 cups
Pickled cucumber and carrot - optional - a few slices
Mushrooms - 1 cup
Salad Cream - 2 tbspn
Tuna - 1 can
Onions - 1 biji
Garlic - 1 biji
Cilantro - 4-5 stems
Lettuce - 3 pieces
Tomato - 1 biji
Seasoning to taste:
- Oyster Sauce - 1 tbsp
- Soya Sauce - a dash
- Sugar - 1 tspn
- Pepper - a dash
- Rice Vinegar - a dash
Heat oil and stir fry garlic, onions till aromatic. Add in mushrooms. Season with soya sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, pepper and vinegar. Brown till mushrooms are soft. Add in cilantro.
Mix salad cream with tuna and add a dash of pepper. Add in cubed tomatoes. Finally, add in the mushroom mixture and mix well.
Place moutabel spread onto lebanese bread. Place lettuce leaves and tuna mushroom mix onto bread. Finally, add in the pickled cucumber and carrots. Roll up and serve.
